An absolutely stunning 1950’s strapless party/prom dress in stop-the-traffic fiery red. What a statement this gown would make at the approaching holiday season parties ! The skirt consists of three layers – an underlayer of matching red satin acetate, a middle single layer of red tulle to give the skirt extra body, topped by an outer layer of metallic red tulle. This top layer of tulle is accentuated with metallic silver flecks, which are iridescent when they catch the light. Maker’s label reveals this dress is from the highly collectable design house of Emma Domb. No fabric contents label but this is likely a synthetic blend.

Note the special details on this lovely dress –strapless (boned) taffeta bodice wrapped in red tulle, tufted tulle at the neckline, exquisitely trimmed bustline (with mother of pearl flowers, seed pearls and silver metallic cord) and the fabulous twirling tulle skirt trimmed in metallic flecks. Note the dress is photographed using a crinoline to show the skirt to full advantage – the crinoline is not included.

This dress closes down the side with a hidden metal zipper and fasteners. The entire dress is lined in red satin acetate.

No vintage size label but this is a small size that would likely best fit a modern size 0 or 2 – please see measurements below for a proper fit.

Bust – 33-34”
Waist – 23-24”
Hips – full
Length – 44”
Torso length (strapless) – 11.5”
Skirt length (waist to hem) - 32.5”

This dress is in excellent vintage condition. No stains and underarms are clean. The tulle is crisp and clean with wonderful drape. All trim decoration appears to be intact. Only one minor mention – at the base of the zipper opening the outer tulle was torn and has since been repaired using transparent monofilament thread. This is inconspicuous and only visible on close inspection. No significant flaws to note.
