What a terrific example of Kirk Pewter from the early 1970's. From the Maryland Historical Society: Kirk Corporation acquired A. L. Hanle, Inc. (a manufacturer of pewter holloware) in 1971 and you will find pieces marked with the Hanle name from that time. The name was changed to Kirk Pewter, Inc. in 1972, and that is how these mushrooms are marked: "Kirk Pewter 503". In 1979, Kirk Corporation merged with the Stieff Company and pieces after that were marked with Kirk Steiff Pewter.

These adorable mushroom salt and pepper shakers measure 2 3/8" tall and 1 7/8" across the top. They both have their little clear plastic stoppers in place and they are still soft and pliable. The top of the pepper shaker has been mishapen a little bit (not sharp dents, but smooth, shallow, indentation). Both pieces have quite a few scuffs and small scratches, but they are still a great looking set, perfectly useable, perfectly collectable.
