a sweet & lovely little rose brooch
of carved celluloid
in a creamy ivory white color

At first I wasn't quite sure what this was made of since I've seen several of these pins being sold as genuine ivory or carved bone. After researching it though, I can say with fair certainty that this is indeed celluloid. If this were real ivory, it would have tell-tale cross-hatch lines, which this does not, and if it were bone, it would have a porous, spotty look. This one is smooth and lovely with a soft, glossy finish, and there are parallel lines on the back which indicates it's French Ivory, also known as celluloid or Ivorine. It dates from the 1930s-40s and is in excellent, beautiful condition with no flaws to note ♥

measures approximately 5/8" tall and 1" in diameter ~
