This beautiful vintage black ceramic pitcher is studio pottery with a glossy black glaze and dimpled surface. The pitcher has a classical, Grecian shape, with a thin neck and exaggerated spout. The surface is burnished to a shine, with a more matte finish around the spout and handle where it would have been held.

The pitcher is not signed by the artist but is stamped Geddes China Nook on the bottom. Minnie Geddes and her husband, Harvey, ran the China Nook in Benton Harbor, Michigan, from 1936 to 1958. This may have been made by a local artist and sold at the shop, but I haven't been able to find anything similar.

The pitcher is in very good condition, with some signs of normal wear but no chips or cracks.

Size: 6 3/4 inches tall x about 6 inches wide (17.2 x 15.2 cm)
