This late 1800s Queen Bee Catcher was used, you guessed it, to capture the valuable queen bee. The queen bee can squeeze in but can not get out. The smaller bees can easily come and go through thetwo capture holes. The middle hole was the door to get the queen bee out.

The wood has a beautiful brown patina. The iron nails have stained dark the wood around it, indicatiive of its age.

This queen bee catcher is in very good condition, though keep in mind it is essentially a primative item and the wood used had original flaws. Otherwise there are no cracks or chips or otherwise recent broken wood.

This makes a rather nice and unusual display piece for the primative collector or those interested in vintage apiary products.

This item measure 12" long, 4.5" high and 2.5" deep.
