Gorgeous, elegant, genuine Victorian brooch, circa 1870s-1880s...
This type of brooch would also be worn as a choker pendant securing a crossed ribbon...
The unmarked gold is solid and tests immediately to a minimum of 18 karats...
Onyx or highly polished jet stones: one cut bar, one ball decoration, and four pendants...
Engraved "V" bail suspends the drops...
The design is genius with the bar sliding through three bottom grooves and one top...
The bar is removable, it slides out sideways...
There is residue of period security adhesive which could never have held up this long...
The stone stays in place unless you move it from side to side...
Could be easily secured but I like the ability to remove the bar and marvel at the design...
Its quite a refined, high quality, exquisite piece of Victorian jewelry for your collection!

Condition is very good. It presents nearly new! The old adhesive no longer functions as mentioned. No chips to these gorgeous stones. Some scratches on the back to the gold, might want to polish. Slight bend in pin. Pin c clasp work very well.

It is 3" tall by 1 3/4" wide.

Reasonable offers considered for this piece.
