Terrific piece to add to a collection, or, to start one off! This vintage 1950's Calories tablecloth is different from those usually seen as it has layers of boxes working into the middle and no central "title." It is also printed into nice thick cotton cloth with a slight diamond texture or "waffle weave" to the surface. The design is incredibly engaging - both practical and whimsical - and will keep you and your guest occupied for hours looking at all the details on the table. I have further good news and bad news about this cloth. The good news is: 90% of it is bright, colorful and no fading whatsoever and looks as good as the day it was made. The bad news is, (and I did not even notice this until I went to photograph it!) there is an area of fading in one corner that affects about ten of the square "motifs" and a little of the red border at that area. You can see this in the upper left of the overhead shot of the whole cloth (#3) and a detail in the last photo (#5). All I can imagine is that this was folded with this section on top and this small section was exposed to sunlight when none of the rest of the cloth ever was. No stains, tears, holes, wear, etc. Still fantastic, in my opinion, an unusual design, and, a terrific addition to any collection. The price reflects fabulousness - condition. This has been gently laundered and air-dried for you. It measures 47" x 49" and is hemmed on two sides. No maker's tag.
