A single industrial era textile mill wooden quill wrapped in glowing bronze silk thread. As shown in the first and second photo. Sourced from the now shuttered Alex Silk Mill in New Jersey, established in 1932. This is essentially 'new' silk, wound and ready for production 5 years ago. It would be appropriate for specialty weaving, embroidery or spinning.

These wooden quills about 9 inches tall and 1 inch wide at the wire-wrapped base. There is a hole pinky-tip wide at the large metal-wrapped end and a small hole at the narrow end. Also, a hole running down the center of each that would allow for stacking or stringing.

Note: silk spool in first photo is the actual one you will receive.

Provides an excellent display for trims and notions when the silk is gone. You're left with something to re-use, not toss. Right now my kiddos are using the bare spools as microphone and percussion instruments. ;-)
