This is an antique victorian brass locket, that once was a Scent locket, then made into a picture locket. It could be easily converted back to a scent locket. Just remove the inner brass ring and plastic dome and tah dah, you are left with an empty locket. It already has 2 piece of velvet in it - you put perfume on those, close and now it is back to a scent locket.

It has the original chain which has a hidden clasp, developed in 1840. This locket was originally Ormolu Gilded which means: Bronze doré, gilt bronze. gilded metal, especially cast brass or bronze gilded over fire with an amalgam of gold and mercury, used for furniture mounts and ornamental objects.

There are a few hints of this process left on the locket and chain, but not much, due to the age. It is in very, very good condition for its age and still very wearable, either way you choose. I did take this in to my local antique shop, to get all the info on it.

Locket is: 1 3/4" H x 1 1/4" W each side. Chain total length is 27 3/4" long.

It has a beautiful textured filagree design, front and back; chain is solid. This is a wonderful piece of history as well as an awesome piece of jewelry!! This locket alone is going for 199.00 on Ebay!!

Shipping will be USPS First Class with insurance included.
