Well, now that I've written that title, it does all sound quite macabre !

This full mouth OPT or OPG x ray was taken of the skull of a victim of the terrible plague `The Black Death ' which raged in Europe in the middle of the 14th century and in London between 1348 and 1350.

This, and many other xrays were taken as part of a study by the University and Museum of London of `plague pit ' burial grounds found on the site of the old Royal Mint , very close to the Tower of London.

I was involved with that study in the 1980's and this xray was taken by me.

It measures just under 12 inches by just under 6 inches ( 30 cm by 15 cm ), and it represents a unique little moment in history !

Please don't hesitate to ask me any questions.
I will be publishing more of these in Auvergne Memories very soon.
