The workmanship in this little hand-carved piece is beautiful. The tagua nut grows in Ecuador and is carved by native Ecuadorian Indians. The tagua is also called vegetable ivory because it has the same density and hardness as animal ivory. It also carves the same. Tagua is a non- toxic renewable and sustainable resource which is providing income to economically deprived areas of the Amazon Jungle. This sweet little fellow is in excellent condition and measures approximately 2 inches long by 1&1/2 inches tall.
