Very beautiful, very detailed signed vintage sculpture of a ballet dancer, clearly inspired by Degas' ballerina sculptures, but of a more modern dancer. Signed on the base Cipriano, this hauntingly lovely piece most likely dates to the 1960s.

The lines are graceful and lovely from every angle. Her long neck slightly arched, face is upturned in an expression of contemplative ecstasy, her arms at rest behind her back. There is so much detail in this piece. You can almost feel her bones beneath the skin. Every wrinkle in her (older style) leotard in exactly the right place.

If you love Degas' ballerinas, but have the feeling you wouldn't be able to afford one (wink wink), this vintage signed original sculpture is as close as you're going to get.
