This is a wonderful vintage unused tea towel or torchon, made in France in the traditional Basque style of the Basque Country situated in the French and Spanish Pyrenees Mountain region. It is woven out of Metis, which is a cotton Linen blend which is extremely durable and long lasting.

This torchon is beautifully decorated with large blocks of bold color woven as 7 stripes down its length. These 7 stripes represent the 7 Basque provinces. These stripes are woven between panels of pure natural metis. This is ecru in color, but will like all metis whiten with repeated washing until it is pure white.

This tea towel is unused, and as new. Since it is a new vintage item, I have not laundered it, and it does need to be washed before use.

Due to the quality of the fabric, this tea towel could also be used for fabric for small upholstery jobs, or small projects such as scatter cushions, to add a hint of Basque country charm to your home.

This tea towel Measures approx : 30 1/2 inches by 20 1/2 inches.
