This romantic strapless dress has so many interesting details. It features several layers, the skirt is comprised of a full satin layer, followed by tulle with lace accents. The bodice is boned and features ivory satin with lace overlay. The sweetheart neckline has beautiful gathered tulle detailing. The dress zips up the side and is without a label, so it is perhaps handmade. The length of the gown allows for it to work for the petite bride (I would estimate a 6 petite but see measurements below to ensure fit) or would be gorgeous if worn tea-length!

Included is a matching lace bolero jacket with a peter pan collar and the original veil. This beautiful veil features two layers of tulle (presumably so you could wear one layer over your face as you walk down the aisle) with lace and tiny pearl accents. Also included are the original pins with fabric detailing to attach your veil to your hair.

To find a dress like this with matching veil (with original pins!) and bolero is rare indeed! Additionally, the larger size is also rare for the period which makes this gown wearable for the modern bride! There are some minor condition issues as are typical for a dress of this age. There is some staining near the metal zipper closure underneath one arm, there are some tiny pulls/snags in the tulle, and the veil has stitching that has come loose on one side the tulle attaches to the head piece. All of these issues are minor and could be easily repaired or overlooked. I'm not sure about the original color of this dress, it would seem that it might have originally been a combination of creme and ivory and bright white, but the way the various materials have aged may explain the colors in the dress - all of which are beautiful in their own way. I have hand cleaned this dress - it took 8 hours to soak the entire gown in Woolite and white vinegar, then it was hung in the sun to dry. This helped to remove some yellowing to the satin skirt and some of the "musty" smell. I would still recommend a professional cleaning as this would ensure that all the details of the lace and tulle are pressed evenly. This dress also came with a starched muslin crinoline that would have been worn underneath to give the dress that polished fit and flare shape. However, this very damaged and will not be included, so I would also recommend finding a crinoline to wear with this dress. Please contact me with any questions you may have if you are considering this dress for your special day!!
