This antique Thai hill tribe bronze elephant bell would make a perfect wedding gift...with rings on her fingers and bells on her toes...Bells are auspicious gifts, period. This one has a most beautiful tone, almost like a call to prayer bell tone. And Christmas is just around the corner.

Size: 12.5" inches long x 5" inches wide x15.5" inches high
bell itself measures 6" inches long x 16" inches in circumference
iron clapper is 4" inches long which may explain itself lovely resonance

Originally, back in the day, it was worn by an elephant on the loose so that its mahout could find him when not being worked. With civilization, soon there will be no open space for elephants to just feed and roam in the wild....Sigh. One cannot help but romanticize its plight.

And naturally these bells are increasingly hard to find except at exorbitant prices, and usually the clapper is missing or replaced with some wooden piece and seldom with this architectural wooden stand made. The lovely arched design of this hand carved stand makes it a piece of art in its own right. And most importantly, it is in great condition and only weights 9 pounds.

Elephants in the home have always brought long life, good fortune, and strength, and so the legend goes that an elephant bell in the home is the most auspicious.

Thank you for visiting the Old Silk Route and do come back again soon.
