Short Story Long:
Bokara rugs are in almost every textile enthusiast's collection. The pattern is simple, yet interesting, and it is an easy pattern to spot if you're a novice rug collector. The Bokara design, which is also sometimes referred to as an elephant foot pattern, is very versatile and works with both contemporary and traditional furnishings.
This particular rug is a great weave and in excellent shape. It is "signed," but the signature is more a conversation piece than anything else. In Farsi, the signature says, "Quantity Woven." My guess is that non-Farsi speaking weavers copied something in Farsi off the rug order form to make their rugs look like signed Persian rugs. Sometimes, rugs signed by famous artists are worth more than other rugs, but signatures like this are just good for cocktail party banter. Have fun!
