this is possibly, NO.. this is without a doubt the most gorgeous sea life print EVER!

it depicts an american lobster - or HOMARD COMMUN ~ homarus vulgaris
at titled in french and latin at the bottom of the print

this particular lobster is a blue lobster - a rare mutated form of the American Lobster

it is an authentic original antique engraving printed and hand coloured in paris in 1849

a copy of the title page documentation with the date, publisher and engraver's information will be included with the print

the colouring is delicate yet meticulously accurate with 'true to life' detail

it measures aprox 6 x 9.5" with enough margin for matting and framing

it comes from one of the finest natural history series titled "dictionaire universal d'histoire naturelle" published in the mid 19th century

the series featured most of the centuries top illustrators and engravers
and was written by one of the foremost french naturalist ~ d'orbigny
