This fun WPI (Wraps per inch) tool is lovingly handcrafted in the shape of a sheep. This is a handy gauge for the knitter and hand spinner alike. It's handcrafted from Poplar and sanded to a fine, smooth finish with a lite wood stain. It' 2 1/2 inches by 3 inches in height. The mid section is exactly one inch.

Comes with a handy card to gauge your WPI and find the best needle to work with as well as a control card on back for gauging your yarn thickness.

WPI gives spinners a standardized way to communicate to one another about the fineness or thickness of their latest yarn. Knitters use WPI to figure adjustments when not using the same weight commercial yarn suggested by a pattern.

To use this tool wrap smoothly, with the yarn touching but not too tight. Once you've wrapped, calculate your number of wraps per inch (or WPI).

Use this chart to calculate WPI.
18 or more wpi - Lace weight
16 wpi - Fingering weight
14 wpi - Sport weight
12 wpi - Worsted weight
10 wpi - Bulky
