This is a set of two medical jewelry items in very good condition.

The first is a vintage EMS medical charm made of sterling and enamel that measures about 1/2" round. We did not polish the back as we thought someone may enjoy this vintage patina, however it will polish up nicely if desired. It features a red star of life which dates it as pre-1977 when the patent went into effect for a BLUE star of life with the snake entwined around the staff of Asclepius that we see today on all ambulances and emergency medical vehicles. Prior to 1977, the star was red but the Red Cross thought that it was too similar to their own symbol so they petitioned the governing bodies to have the color changed to differentiate the two.

The second item is an American Red Cross pin which features a red cross and the words "Home Nursing" in gold. It features a blue/green enamel face with a red cross on a white background in the top left side. It measures 9/16" x 3/4". It also has an embossed "L" on the back. It is still on its original paper.

They are in great, mint condition and very collectible.
