This bead spindle spins *really* well! Weighing in at just 7 grams (or 35 carats, hee hee), this eye-popping, jewel-like supported spindle is made from a gorgeous, hand-poured high-quality resin bead that is about 3/4" in diameter, and an 8" hollow stainless steel shaft with perfect points. The bead was made by Sobral in Brazil. Though all of his beads are lovely (and expensive), a very small percentage of them are drilled to be perfectly-balanced. I've selected only the very best ones to turn into spindles. The bead and shaft are sized together perfectly, and the bead whorl is held on tightly with friction (no glue). I loved my test spin. I have spun on a whole lot of spindles, and these are the easiest supported spindles I've ever used. This spindle is lighter in weight than the first 5 spindles I made, because the shaft is hollow instead of solid. You will love to make cobweb lace weight yarn or thread on this!

In the photos of 2 spindles, this is the one with the whorl on the left. Enjoy!
