Crafted by the prolific St. Louis junior dressmaking house, Carlye, this beautiful frock's cotton tutu-esque knife-pleat skirt and demure ballerina bodice call to mind Edgar Degas' famed "Dancer" (La petite Danseuse de Quatorze Ans) sculpture, shown in Paris at the Sixth Impressionist Exhibition of 1881.

A work of art in its own right, this Carlye take features gorgeous ribbon and crochet work on the sweetheart neck line bodice, which is tastefully scattered with Aurora Borealis crystal rhinestones, and a scalloped hemline skirt with its own slip under layer. Ornate yet understated, this lovely vintage treasure zips down the back with hook closure and falls gracefully to the knees.
