Kantha quilts consist of several layers of recycled cotton or saris, They are held together by a simple, running, “Kantha” stitch that is applied row after row and gives the fabric its unique, slightly old, wrinkled effect. This kind of embroidery is most popular with the rural women of India, who spends hour upon hour creating these wonderful, one-of-a-kind pieces. The top layer of the quilt may start peeling off (due to wear), letting the layer below shine through.

This blanket is absolutely beautiful. I've bought a kantha quilt from an Indian shop before, so I knew what to expect. I like to use layers on my bed, so it suits my needs well. The colors are exceptional, and it is the perfect size for my bed.
