Antique Nippon moriage scalloped edge porcelain bowl with clover motif. This hand painted piece was decorated using the moriage technique which involves creating delicate raised designs using thick liquid clay, or slip. This pretty moriage bowl has a series of gilded beads running just below its scalloped edge and features several three-leafed clover and berries inside. The soft light blue, green and pink color scheme used in this piece is really appealing.

The bowl measures 5.5" across and stands 1.75" high. It is in good antique condition showing age and light use but has no chips, cracks or repairs. As seen in the photos, the gilding does show minor wear appropriate for a century old item. The bottom bears the Morimura Brothers green maple leaf backstamp reading "Hand Painted Nippon" which dates this piece somewhere between 1875 - 1911.

This beautiful bowl would be a great addition to an existing collection of antique Japanese porcelain or could be used as a stand alone decorative accent in your home. Truly a special little gem.
