This stunning figural ashtray was manufactured in Chicago, IL by the Harry Davies Molding Company. "Known as a phenolic molder, Davies manufactured numerous parts including knobs, handles, cases, ashtrays, as well as custom molded products," according to the company's website. From the distinctively art deco design of the affixed slender flowing figural nude, I'm pretty confident this ashtray was made pre-World War 2 -- probably in the mid-1930s. The black ashtray is made from authentic Daka-Ware, Davies' patented phenolic material similar to bakelite. The base is marked, "THE TOPS IN ASHTRAYS BY DAKA-WARE, CHICAGO, MADE IN U.S.A. PAT. PEND.," complete with a wonderful raised top hat and cane design (see photo #3).

This fabulous pieces is in excellent condition with no scratches, dents, dings, burn marks, or other traces of its former purpose. I've hand washed this lovely vessel so it can be used for a less sullying purpose -- maybe a candy dish or lovely repository for whatnots. This footed tray is in wonderful condition with no scratches, dents, dings, or traces of its former purpose. I've provided high quality photos to offer the best preview of this item. Please take a look and feel free to ask any questions. The base of the ashtray is 5" in diameter and 1" high. The perched, chromium female nude stands 5" tall (total height 6").
