This stunning vintage dress in a 100% genuine Oleg Cassini couture piece from the very late 40's to early 50's. It epitomizes couture New Look fashion of this incredible, exciting period in design history. It is made of a heavenly black silk taffeta that has a moderate sheen. It has a deep collar, exaggerated long sleeve cuffs with a metal zipper, and hip pockets made out of ribboned lace backed in taffeta.

The dress buttons up the front, and has a back metal zipper with two hooks and eyes at the top of the collar. The skirt of this dress is extremely full; it in constructed in such a way that there are what look almost like inverted pleats at the sides. It opens up to 360 degrees plus. The sleeves are immaculately tailored to fit the arm without unnecessary bulk. There is no shoulder seam; the bodice tapers into the sleeve with clever tailoring.

The original Oleg Cassini tag, and a Saks Fifth Avenue tag are both sewn in at the waist. This dress is unlined; I recommend wearing a slip and crinoline to protect it.

size: medium
bust: 39-40"
waist: 28"
hips: free
length: 50.5
shoulder to waist: 18"
collar to sleeve edge: 32"

label: Oleg Cassini, Saks Fifth Avenue

condition: near mint. the only flaw I could find is the beginning of a pinhole near the back left shoulder, and I've reinforced the corner of an underarm seam with three invisible stitches. It is otherwise in incredible, museum-quality condition.

cleaning: This garment came to me in pristine condition free of odors and stains. I have steamed it, but it will likely need a professional pressing after its journey to you as taffeta tends to wrinkle easily.
