This tea light holder is of one piece, solid Hard Maple. The lantern housing is turned to a near paper-thin thickness to reveal the active light in a warm glow. As the viewer walks around the tea lighthouse, the active flame will seem to flash due to the three windows cut into the lantern - sort of like a real lighthouse beacon. The finish is a clear urethane, buffed to a medium luster. The internal surfaces of the lantern are treated with a Tung oil mixture. This helps prevent any wax from sticking to the wood. Inside or outside (although not waterproof), this tea lighthouse lights the way and draws the viewer in.

The tea lighthouse measures about 10.25 inches (26 cm) tall and a little over 3 inches (7.6 cm) at the base. It is solid, hard Maple so it has a bit of heft. It should stand on its own with no worry of falling over. Also, the thin wood windows of the lantern are in no danger of burning - they are positioned far enough away from the flame. The holder is made to accept one tea light candle. The kind with the aluminum cup. The receptacle well for the tea light measures 1.5 inches (2.5 cm) in diameter.

This is a handmade item, one-of-a-kind. Part of an ongoing series of individual tea lighthouses. Check back once in a while to see what's new.
