Treasure Island, by Robert Louis Stevenson, Illustrated by Norman Price, Published by Grosset & Dunlap (Illustrated Junior Library ed.), 1947, with Slipcase.

The hard covered book is a wonderful edition of the classic adventure story that introduced us to Long John Silver and other colorful characters, written by a master story teller. The full page color as well as smaller black/white illustrations are lively and fully capture the spirit of the story. The book is 342 pages and measures just over 6-3/8” X 9-¼”.

The covers have a touch of wear at the bent/stubbed corner tips as well as top/bottom spine edge wear. Binding has a slight wobble but is sturdy and intact. Contents are clean.

The slipcase has some scuffs, occasional smudges and edge wear, with underlying cardboard showing. The outer spine edge is detaching from the underlying paper - it is not noticeable but could stand a spot of glue to reinforce it. A previous owner may have done this along another edge where there is some now gone tape residue. The slipcase is still sturdy and has protected its contents well.
