This piece is exceptional with its highly unusual carved face [most likely Unakite Stone] & impressive sterling silver Headpiece/ Mask, neck-guard, ears & earrings. Another Native Silver item from our collection we could see Frida Kahlo wearing oh so easily! In the style of Francisco Rivera's 40's Jewelry. With the exception of the MMC Signature, I would have thought it Rivera's. Perhaps MMC worked in his studio or was his student.

*The Old Design of this Piece reflects the love of history & longing for Pre-Columbian Ways. This spirited piece evokes the Spirits of the Olmec People, an original tribe of Mexico. The Colossal Heads of the Olmec's found from (1500–400 BC) are a fascinating part of ancient Mexico.

*Vintage 1955-1960 Taxco Sterling Silver what once was perhaps a pendant, is now a brooch. I would love to see this amazing vintage piece as a Necklace again. With that said, a very brilliant friend of my from the New York Jewelry Industry [also w/ an Etsy shop] said, "Any brooch can be a pendant! All one has to do is slip a clear straw over the pin of the clasp & slide a chain/cord/ribbon through! Voile! A brooch becomes a necklace!"

*Stamped & Signed: Taxco Mexico 925 MMC & a '3' in a silhouetted eagle, meaning in or around 1955.

*Measures: Over 2 inches long x 1 3/4 inches wide x over 3/4 of an inch in thickness when lying flat.

*In Good Vintage Condition, the stone has a minor scratch/bump mark on the nose. *What I am thinking is a stone could also be faience.

*Unakite is a combination of Pink Feldspar, Green Epidote & Quartz. This stone promotes as a healing stone: Cleansing, balancing &detoxifying. It can be used to see the root cause of illness. It is sometimes used as a fertility aid.
