a miniature embroidery artwork

here is a charming smaller character study in stitch - using my sewing machine as a drawing tool, I have created this artwork of a female figure holding a tiny child or doll. I have used shades of grey with black and have added a light yellow background of many dancing stitches. Tiny faces decorate the figure's gown. Oh so tiny faces!

My work is inspired by art of past times, especially medieval art. Over several years I have developed my own distinctive stitch style.

From time to time I decide not to add a backing to a piece. This is a work I have decided to leave without a backing so that you can view the 'reverse side'. I enjoy the mystery of the 'other side' and hope you do too.

This work measures: 9cm x 5.5cm approx

cotton thread on hand dyed linen with felt on the reverse.

will come to you carefully packaged

these miniature works are designed to be placed within a frame (a box frame is ideal) or displayed 'as is', perhaps propped on a shelf amongst other special objects, or displayed in a cabinet.

I price each artwork individually, considering the intricacy of the embroidery and time take to complete.
