The story of Babar comes to us by a Frenchman named Jean de Brunhoff. In 1931 he took the stories that his wife Cecile made up to tell their children and turned it into a series of stories that we still enjoy today.

Babar's Mom was killed by a hunter in the jungle. He chased and frightened the little elephant who escapes and makes his way to the big city. Eventually Babar returns to his herd and helps them learn the benefits of civilization. When Babar marries Celeste and they have children of their own they teach them valuable life lessons that make up the many stories of Babar.

The two original pages on this wooden cover book come from a calendar of Babar. The 1/4" thick covers measure 9" tall and 6 1/4" wide. It is well filled with 200-230 creamy blank pages. I have varnished and sanded, inside and out, front and back, many times over many days to preserve these delightful elephants. This book is strong and sturdy and so smooth to hold. It will last your lifetime. You could write your own children's story in it or use it as a new baby journal. Someone who is a Babar fan would enjoy receiving this as a unique and thoughtful gift. Whatever use you find for this darling book it is sure to delight! Please enjoy!

I will ALWAYS refund over-charges on shipping costs rounding up to the nearest dollar.
