The majority of amber in Africa actually originated as raw material found in the Baltic (an important supplier of amber worldwide for thousands of years). It was probably traded via the "incense route" down into Africa where it was cut into beads. Generally, but not always, raw lumps of amber were traded and then carved into beads by the new owners. The typical raw "wheel" shapes point to an African origin (Europeans usually preferred a more consistent and finished shape). Amber has been traded into the region for thousands of years so it's hard to accurately date them. A conservative estimate would be 100-200 years or older.

This is NATURAL antique amber, not to be confused with resin, copal or other faux impersonations of amber.

The bead measures 13mm hole to hole, 19mm from top to bottom and 21mm wide. The bead is temporarily strung on a length of strong waxed cotton finished with an adjustable knot for instant adornment.

You will receive the exact bead you see pictured here.

These amber beads are indeed antique pieces and their condition reflects that. Worn edges and weathering are a product of time and use...not defects.
