I wonder who made this unusual, one of a kind doll, and who was the recipient? This primitive doll comes from Kansas, and I'd like to think she made a trip on a covered wagon. She is quite old and was made from scraps of fabric, lace and odd buttons. The dress seems to be made by someone who knew how to sew, while the face was created by a very unskilled artist. Her primitive little mouth is made from a scrap of fabric and the fiber hair and mismatched button eyes add to the primitive appearance. Her body is cloth and she has a yellow petticoat under her fancy red brocade and lace dress. The back of the dress has shiny black glass buttons. She measures 21 inches long and is about 9 inches wide. This little doll would be fabulous for a collection!
