This teapot is modeled after my grandmother's silver teapot. It holds 20 oz., and measures 6.5" in height to the top of the lid and 7" spout to handle, the opening is 2.75" dia. It has a pedestal foot, a large, comfortable handle with thumb rest, and a long curved spout with straining holes for loose tea. It's the perfect companion to the Handcuff Tea Cup & Saucer:

This piece is wheel-thrown and made of mid-fire porcelain. The exterior of the teacup features eight keys painted by hand in cobalt blue underglaze by using a graphite transfer process. White slip beading encircles the pot and the pedestal foot as well as the edge of the lid.

I’ve always been interested in drawing and painting metal objects. I love getting lost in the reflections of darkness and light on shiny metal surfaces. The objects I chose to feature in this collection are instruments of confinement: handcuffs, ball & chains, padlocks. But not to worry, I’ve also included the keys.

I love the connotations behind the images; metal objects with kinky associations; pottery with teasing allure. The classic blue and white palette and the sweet slip beading make the pieces even more seductive. Can a teacup be sexy?

All my pieces are food, microwave and dishwasher safe, though they prefer hand washing.

This design is part of an open edition collection. The piece pictured may not necessarily be the piece you receive. As with most handmade work slight variations are natural.
