Make batts and spin your own yarn with this beautiful recycled sari silk fiber from Nepal. This high-quality fiber was produced by a women's collective in Nepal whom I've worked with for years; your purchase helps these women escape poverty and send their children to school.

This silk fiber is premium quality, Grade AA. It is "silk thrum," meaning that it is made from the leftover ends of warp yarns. These leftovers are created when looms in textile factories are set up or changed to a new color or pattern. Much of the fiber remains attached to a narrow strip of fabric that was the first (or last) section of fabric woven on the loom. This particular group of fiber features several shades of red and burgundy; it's all extra long, with no loose fiber, and weighs 5.3 oz (150 grams).
