This vintage book was written by three health educators, W.W. Charters Ph.D, Dean F. Smiley M.D., and Ruth M.Strang Ph.D. Part of the Macmillan Publishing Company's "Health and Growth Series," it had three objectives: to interest a child in the subject of health, to establish good habits of health, and to offer the child the latest information about health and disease. Quite a tall order!

Published in 1937, this book has 14 chapters along with health-weight tables and a glossary at the back. Within its 227 pages, it covers a wide range of topics — good posture, vitamins, safety, choosing food for the day, and even spending lunch money wisely. The text is embellished with drawings by Adrian Iorio and black and white photos by Doris Day.

Measuring 5.5 by 7.5 inches, this book has a nice cover with an illustration of children hiking, making it a good candidate for displaying face-out on a shelf. It is in very good condition for its age with minor wear, soiling and age spots. The inside front and back covers have the signature, Brooklyn address, and notes written by its original owner.
