Possibly intended for a child or the tourist market, this little box is just darling.

Cobalt blue textured heavy paper or cardboard has white designs imprinted around the edges, as well as the word "Germany". An oval paper illustration is affixed in the center of the lid and shows a little girl and boy on a bench sharing some flowers. A blue umbrella is propped to the side and and a rooster and chicken look on.

Dimensions: 5.25" X 4" X 1.25" high

A little fabric tab with a rivet in the center serves as the catch for this box. The rivet snaps over a little metal button. Inside there are some marks as if something were once glued in the base, and a gathered paper strip is stapled along the inside of the lid and likely held small implements at one time.

My favorite part is the bottom, as it has wonderful brown and cream patterned paper like you would see as endpapers in antique books.

Condition is commensurate with age, corners are worn and frayed, and edges show wear as well. Great cheerful old piece!
