Large Antique Rosary, Chaplet, French Ebonised Circa 1900

As I live only 40 mins by car from Lourdes the Catholic Pilgrim town, it is inevitable that I find some vintage rosaries as thousands of new ones are sold there each year.

This is an incredibly large Edwardian, hand carved and hand assembled, 6 decade wooden rosary which dates from around 1910 - 1920. I am pretty certain it is made of a fruit wood, but I confess I am no expert.

6 decade rosaries are traditionally prayed by Brigittines and Carmelites

Some people call these Nuns rosaries, however, I have been unable, through my research, to confirm if this is correct, although, to be fair, the size is right for wearing around ones waist.

Please see the pictures for the inscriptions on this rosary. This one is a Lourdes souvenir and is marked as such.

PLEASE NOTE......There are some chips on some wood parts And the wire that attaches the crucifix is missing it has been attached with cotton.

Very large... The overall diam (excluding) the hanging part with the crucifix is approx 75 inches. The crucifix is approx 3.25 by just under two inches.

The last picture shows it hung on a picture to give one an idea of its size.
