Guerlain Bumblebee Eau de Cologne Imperiale Bottle. Eau du Cologne de Coq. Vintage Guerlain perfume bottles. Very collectible Guerlain perfume bottles would enhance any vanity or vintage francophile collection.

These guaranteed authentic, stamped Guerlain, made In France clear bottles, with labels, are in excellent vintage condition with minor issues that do not detract. The paper label on the Eau de Cologne bottle has a slight bit torn off by upper right hand corner. There is a flea bite chip on the bottom edge of same bottle. The Eau du Coq bottles paper label also has a small tear on it by left hand bottom corner and shows mottling or discoloration. I feel no chips and see no breaks or cracks on this bottle. The Eau de Cologne bottle has a little paper label "90° Alcoolique" attached with french text. The Coq bottle also has a paper "90% Alcoolique" paper on the bottom but the blue label reads "45%".

monsieurguerlain.com reads: Guerlain first created the Imperial scent in 1853 for Empress Eugenie of France, wife of Napoleon III. Guerlain's bee bottle was inaugurated in 1853 when Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain won the title as the French empress' official perfumer. Eau de Cologne Impériale was the celebrity fragrance of the day...But the arrangement with France's own imperial ruler was Guerlain's most important and grand achievement, and very worthy of showcasing. Since then, for more than 150 years, the Napoleonic bee symbol has constantly embellished Guerlain's bottle and box design. Most emblematic is the bee bottle itself. Many people look at it as shaped like a beehive, and it's often referred to as the "beehive bottle". Yet the real inspiration was the Vendôme Column, erected by Napoléon I at the centre of Place Vendôme in Paris to commemorate the battle of Austerlitz, Napoléon's greatest victory.

About the bottle: The bee was the imperial emblem and it is embossed throughout the bottle. The bee motif is on the lower half, and above that is a scallop or honeycomb embossing, as on the stopper. The bottom of the bottle is embossed: Guerlain Bottle Made in France."
