The Frog Saltando - Leaping Frog. The frogs' way is to move in a big way - a symbol for the courageous who take the leap.

This artglass rendition of a leaping frog, is an exceptional handblown glass ornament, in collaboration with our chosen studio of glassblowers from Czestochowa, Poland.

To create this shape, the ornament glass is blown into a specially designed metal mold.
In this case, the frog mold has 4 tiny openings at each leg which allows freeform froglegs to be pulled.
While the artist is blowing, they will reach into these openings with something that looks like a crochet hook, and pull the glass through.
The trick is to direct the air through the mold properly, to fill each leg, while moving the hook to fashion a frog leg, at the same time. Exceptional skill needed!

When complete, the inner ornament is coated with silver.
This produces not only impressive reflection [it is now a mirror] but also through the multiple layers of lacquers, produces considerable depth of color.
And again, we go to extraordinarily skilled artists to pull off the riot of color and precision work, that our designs require.
This bright chartreuse, handpainted design is created through layering details with numerous colors of lacquer and paint.
