Puss in Boots, a 19th Century Children's Book, is a fairy tale in Father's Series published by McLoughlin Bros, New York. This classic poem tells the tale of a clever kitty cat inherited by a miller's son, with the obligatory happy ending. My research suggests that the charming stylized drawings in this antiquarian fantasy may be hand colored.

This bright yellow copy has no fly leaf, frontis piece or title page, no editor or illustrator's name, no date, but McLoughlin Bros. Co., New York, which appears on the cover, was publishing during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Approximately 5" x 6 inches, the little 8 page paperback is worn and smudged. Both front and back covers have some tears, and an owner's name is written in pencil on the front. The binding, while firm, appears to have been repaired (hand stitched) by a previous owner.

The beautifully illustrated verse story remains intact, as a nostalgic relic of a bygone era. The back cover provides a contemporary list of McLoughlin Bros. "Picture Books for Little Children."

As I could not locate any copies of this particular edition anywhere online, I'm considering it very rare indeed, highly collectible memorabilia.
