Santa has donned a cowboy hat and chaps, trying to impress his cowboy friends. His leather coat is trimmed with dark fur and denim pockets with leather flaps. His tall, battered hat is decked with pine boughs and holly berries and a lucky horseshoe. It also sports a couple of tails, draped gracefully down the back. Don’t you worry none, these tails were acquired from old coyotes that have gone to that big range in the sky. Santa brings gifts of a fine rocking horse and a matching red hat and boots for some lucky little cowpoke, ready to ride! The hat sits atop a saguaro cactus, a true icon of the Arizona Sonoran Desert. I grew up there, and let me tell you, these impressive specimens of survival are just that. Impressive. Why, just think, it takes 75 long years just to reach maturity and start growing those arms of theirs. Just between you and me, the “g” in Saguaro is silent. These desert skyscrapers can live up to 200 years and grow as tall as 60 feet! .
You may be wondering about gourds. They are very durable and will no doubt outlast your great, great grandchildren. It may even outlast the paint! Have no fear, these hard shelled gourds are dry and cured, most already several years old. Read more in my policies.
