I picked this piece of brown sea pottery off a beach in my hometown of Dublin. The pattern is familiar. In fact, it looks like one of my Granny's dinner service sets - though I'm quite sure it's not, as my Mum still has that!

Beach worn pottery found in this area usually dates back about 100 years. This is a larger piece and the colour is still quite strong, so however old it might actually be, I'd say it has been tumbling in the sea a few decades or so. I wonder whose table it graced?

I wrapped the beach-worn pottery in a silver plated wire in a simple but secure design to show off the pattern. The chocolate suedette necklace is very adjustable so you can wear it at different lengths.

'Tea by the Sea' would make an unusual gift for an Irish ex-pat or descendant.

PENDANT: just over 2 inches (53mm)
