This is an oh, so dainty porcelain tea cup and saucer set made by Merit,(1946-1952).
It is demitasse sized, with hand-painted lavender and yellow pansy blossoms on the footed cup and on the saucer. I love the gold on the rims of the cup and the saucer and the center of the cup handle. This cup and saucer is in lovely vintage condition. The only flaw I can see is the thin area on the cup rim, I think it's the way it was glazed and fired- pic 5.

The cup is 2" tall and 2 1/2" across the opening. The Saucer measures 4 3/4 " in diameter. The bottom of the Tea Cup and Saucer is marked "MERIT, MADE IN OCCUPIED JAPAN" in red, with a laurel leaf and ribbon logo.

The Pansy blossoms will brighten every sip of your tea and be a lovely addition to your collection.
