About

This is a magical genuine original German Jugendstil / Art Nouveau Antique bridal headdress from 1905. So delicate and perfectly made by hand, each little white flower and leaf is delicately made from a slightly stiffened fabric, securely attached to a wrapped arched wire frame. It really is quite something. They really do look like real flowers and real leaves. There are also two small corsages.

It comes with the original commemorative fabric heart which shows the original wedding date in 1905 and the name of the bride and groom.

This particular one has a very interesting shape and is very abundant, with a tall peak on the top. It is in near perfect and very wearable condition, with just a few slightly brown leaves that are barely noticeable and mostly seem to be just in the corsages or at the back of the garland.

This headdress can be worn in a variety of ways, on the top of the head, or going around the front for a more Grecian look. In either case, it comes to about the temples. Just gorgeous and very much something to keep as a family heirloom. There is no reason why this shouldn't last for another hundred years. What an amazing thing to have in the family.

The flowers are myrtle flowers, long associated with the Greek goddess Aphrodite, love and immortality. It is also the Hebrew symbol of marriage. Garlands of myrtle flowers have been worn in weddings at least since ancient Roman times. Popular in the medieval era, the Victorians really loved the myrtle flower and also loved to wear garlands of myrtle at their weddings. The Art Nouveau movement embraced the myrtle flower.
