Karl Ens Porcelain Child Baby Boy Figurine. Exquisite infant putto (putti pl) figurine in hard paste porcelain with high gloss finish. This little cherub has wavy reddish blonde hair and delicate facial features including blue eyes and pink cheeks. The child is sitting on a draped blanket and is holding a bouquet of pink and yellow roses with stems and leaves trailing. The figurine is marked on the underside with the green underglaze Karl Ens logo. It has impressed numbers 1689 and 11. The Ens figurines have the quality of Meissen or maybe better. Human figurines are rarer to find.

The Karl Ens Porcelain Company was an East German company located in Volkstedt, Thuringia, Germany and dates from 1890 - 1972. In the 19th century Karl Ens and another man named Triebner traded under the name Triebner, Ens and Co. Their products became highly regarded. Some of their child figurines when found are breathtakingly beautiful.

~Age: 1940/Pre-World War II
~Size: 4-7/8 inches tall

Condition: One green leaf is broken off near the base of the large pink rose. I didn't know it was missing until I looked at it with a strong magnifying glass. There are some small areas of color loss at three points on the child's hair. I call them "rubs". These are shown in photos. Usually fine early figurines made in the early German porcelain factories are not in such good condition. Much more loss is usally found.
