"Encountering Fear", 2010
8 1/2" x 11" Pen, Ink, acrylic on watercolor paper.
Matted with archival artist tape to black matte board.

This piece was based on . In it, the main character has an encounter with the embodiment of fear, a terrifying creature indeed, but at the same time there is something pitiful about it. Not only is fear blind, but it is also brutalized and wounded incredibly. The beast seems more afraid than the man.

(note: part of the inspiration to this image and idea goes to Frank Herbert for his 'litany against fear' in the book "Dune")
