This teapot has a contemporary feel. It holds approximately 20 oz., and measures 6" in height to the top of the lid and 6" spout to handle, the opening is 2.75" dia. The long flange of the lid keeps it securely in place when pouring, yet is easy to grab. It has a sturdy handle and a spout with straining holes.

This piece is made of mid-fire porcelain. The inside of the teapot is glazed clear and the outside is glazed a bright crackled tang yellow. A luna moth is featured on each side, both are hand painted in black underglaze using a graphite transfer process.

The Beetle and Bug collection of pottery features designs inspired by some of my favorite insects. Luna moths are native to where I live in the North East U.S. The luna moth only lives for one week as an adult and their only purpose is to mate. luna moths don't even eat and don't have mouths! The only time you can see them is at night when they fly. They usually mate after midnight. Their acid green wings have four eyes, both of which put off potential predators.

All my pieces are food, microwave and dishwasher safe, though they prefer hand washing.

This design is part of an open edition collection. The piece pictured may not necessarily be the piece you receive. As with most handmade work slight variations are natural.
