This vintage made in Japan chawan rice bowl features hand painted plum blossoms, or ume, in shades of teal, black and gold. The bowl's style is very similar to YY porcelain that was made in Japan for the Yonemoto Store then often shipped to Hong Kong for hand decoration of details before final shipment to Hawaii. This bowl has an unusual back mark created in script lettering with a very fine brush.

The bowl measures about 4.125"/110.5 cm across and slightly over 2"/5.08 cm high. There are a few worn areas on the gold rim, and slight wear on the bottom edges, as well as a few areas of discoloration in the white glaze and two slight hairline cracks in the glaze on the back of the bowl as seen in the photos.

We pack items carefully for shipping with partially recycled materials. In the US, the bowl will travel to you via USPS First Class mail; elsewhere it will go by International First Class with insurance.
