This piece of luggage is in amazing condition. As expected for a Tourobe of its age there is some scuffing on the exterior. The handles have been replaced at some point, one is a solid leather suitcase handle and the other is leather strapping --- BUT it is still so beautiful.

Inside still looks great and has the original hangers, three for suits and two for pants.Internal straps are complete. The case has two sections, a hanging wardrobe on one side which has a velvet covered pad to protect the suits .... and two compartments on the other for the traveller's folding clothing. A cloth covers the folding clothes section and fastens with two sets of stud buttons holding the clothes in place. This material at some point had frayed from the hem and has been very well repaired, however, all stud buttons and hardware ( other than handles ) are original and still beautiful.

Coming from the late 30’s made exclusively for Sax 5th Avenue by the Hartman Luggage Company.

Following the days of steamer trunks, businessmen (sorry ladies but this was pre-women’s revolution) wanted a way to carry their suits and starched shirts on trains and busses. If you were well “healed” you bought the best and the best were these Tourobe's by Hartmann.

PLEASE ask for more pictures as these do not show the case to its full potential.... it is STUNNING.
