Quick - how many words for wonderful are there? This dress deserves them all. It is an authentic mid 1930s Hungarian peasant dress - America became just obsessed with folk costume dresses and inspired styles in the mid to late 30s.The white cotton is as sheer and lightweight as can be. The shoulders and waistline are smocked with cheery pastel and mid-tone embroidery. I just adore the bodice, with it's elegant but sweet asymmetric floral embroidery. It's like little music notes of flowers. The sleeves are hand finished with pink and green. The hem has been taken up from a mid-30s length to an early WWII length, and is just perfect for the style. There's nothing about the dress I don't adore! The dress closes on the side with snaps.

✂-----Measurements

Bust: 38"
Waist: 28"-31"
Hips: 48"
Length: 43"

Condition: Good

The cotton is delicate, and snags tend to make small holes. There are two smallish holes on the front of the skirt, and about six, from pin-head size to almost a pencil erasure size at the back - most are hidden in the fold of the skirt. There is a small cluster at the upper right back shoulder, and a tiny one at the back edge of the neck. As noted, the hem was taken up, and can be let out, or some fabric could be used for patching. However, it can be worn as is, and since such flaws are common to this type of dress, I would recommend against patches that would show through.
